JD Watches Brings Luxury to the Streets with "Frozen in Time" Ice Cream Truck Activation

Some things are built to last. A well-made watch, a perfect New York summer afternoon, and — it turns out — the memory of a free ice cream cone handed to you by a stranger on the sidewalk.


That was the idea behind Frozen In Time, JD Watches' three-day ice cream truck activation that took over Midtown, FiDi, and Park Avenue this June.


The concept was simple: timeless watches deserve a timeless summer tradition. So we wrapped a vintage-style truck in JD Watches branding, stocked it with soft serve, and hit the streets to hand out complimentary ice cream to New Yorkers — no purchase, no catch, just a scoop and a good moment.

Three Days, Three Iconic NYC Corners

The tour ran June 16 through 18, with a different stop each day:

  • June 16 — Midtown, 5th Avenue & 58th Street, right in front of Bergdorf Goodman
  • June 17 — FiDi, in the heart of the Financial District lunch rush
  • June 18 — Park Avenue, Midtown

Each stop was chosen for the same reason: these are the neighborhoods where New Yorkers already associate JD Watches with the city's luxury watch scene, and we wanted to meet people where they were.

A Sweet Take on "Frozen In Time"

Ice cream and watches don't seem like an obvious pairing, but the campaign name says it all. A great watch captures time. A great memory — like chasing down an ice cream truck on a hot summer day — does too.


Frozen In Time leaned into that overlap, turning something as simple as a soft-serve cone into a small, shareable piece of nostalgia stamped with the JD Watches name.

Lines Around the Block

We hoped for a good response. What we got was lines wrapping around the block at every single stop. Word spread fast — people spotted the truck, told their friends, and in more than one case, followed it several blocks just to catch up before it moved to the next spot.


By the second day in FiDi, the crowd had grown well beyond anyone walking by — a mix of returning fans from day one and new faces who'd seen it on social media overnight.

Building a Community, One Scoop at a Time

The real win wasn't just the ice cream — it was what happened after. Guests posted the truck to their Instagram and TikTok stories in real time, tagging JD Watches and pulling their own followers into the moment.


That organic wave of shares is what turned three days of sampling into a genuine community moment, introducing the brand to entirely new audiences across the city.
