JD Watches recently welcomed The Donna Drake Show on CBS into our Manhattan showroom for a conversation about our journey in luxury watches. From a Canal Street Booth to Our Manhattan Showroom

JD Watches began in 1992 as a small jewelry booth on Canal Street, built on honest pricing and a genuine love of fine watches. Over three decades, that booth grew into the family-run company we are today, with a showroom on 46th Street steps from the Diamond District and a collection that includes Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and more.

Growing up around the business shaped the way we work. Jonathan Matatov, our VP of Sales, spent his earliest years at the booth among the watches and jewelry, learning what it means to treat every client like a guest. That closeness is a large part of why the company still feels personal, no matter how much it has grown.

Trust and Transparency

Two principles guide everything we do: trust and transparency. Clients come to us ready to make a significant purchase, and we believe that confidence has to be earned. Every watch is carefully inspected for authenticity and performance, because your time, your trust, and your hard-earned money deserve respect.

That respect extends to honesty about condition. Pre-owned pieces come with detailed photos, vintage watches receive one final service before leaving the showroom, and every client is welcome to see a watch in person before deciding.

The White-Glove Experience

For many of our clients, the experience begins long before they reach the showroom. Some travel from across the country to visit us, and a private car meets them at the airport and brings them directly to the showroom. Waiting inside is a selection curated around the references they have had in mind, along with a glass of champagne, fine wine, or scotch, so they can explore each piece at their own pace.

Our showroom is meant to feel less like a boutique and more like a gathering of friends who share the same passion for horology. That warmth is what brings clients back, and in many cases it extends across generations. We have welcomed collectors who first met our family on Canal Street in the early 1990s, and sons who followed their fathers through our doors to begin collections of their own. Others come to mark a defining moment, like a long-awaited promotion, and leave wearing the watch they have admired for years.

Sapirion and the Art of Heritage

Our jewelry brand, Sapirion, carries the same values into design. The name speaks to heritage and tradition, and to the act of passing timeless pieces down from one generation to the next. Each piece is created with the same standard we apply to our watches: it should be something we would proudly wear ourselves.

The collection ranges from graceful gradient tennis necklaces to rings that are edgy yet timeless, each with a little personality of its own.
